1. About this policy
This policy explains how Advanced Cargo Systems Limited ("ACS", "we", "our" or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies. It covers the ACS Same Day website and our online quote, booking and customer portal services at online.acs-sameday.co.uk.
It also applies to other ACS Logistics Group websites that link to this policy, including ACS Air Freight, ACS Sea Freight, ACS European Transport and ACS Global Express. The services listed below relate to ACS Same Day; the tools and features available on other ACS websites may differ.
Read this alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information, including enquiries, bookings and chat messages.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. They can remember a preference, maintain a session or help a service recognise a returning browser. First-party cookies relate to the website you visit; third-party cookies relate to another provider.
We also use browser storage and scripts. Local storage can retain information such as saved quote progress on your device; session storage normally lasts for the relevant browser tab or session. Tags and pixels can send information to a service when a page loads or you interact with it. A tool described as "cookieless" can still process information about a visit.
3. Purposes and consent
Essential services
Storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you request can support security, sign-in, a booking or payment session, and remembering your cookie choices. It is not optional within our cookie controls. Blocking it in your browser may prevent the relevant service from working.
Preferences and optional features
Additional storage can remember preferences or support features such as chat and embedded content. Whether storage is essential depends on what it does and the service you request; a tool is not automatically essential simply because it appears on our website.
Analytics and performance
Analytics help us understand visits, page use and the steps people take through our quote and booking process. Our Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity setup uses an analytics consent choice. Browser and device identifiers can be personal information even where reports are aggregated or names are not collected.
With analytics consent, we also measure the value of eligible account bookings submitted through our website or customer portal. We capture Google Analytics client and, where available, session identifiers when you submit the request. Once ACS approves the booking, our server sends its transaction reference, confirmation time, value excluding VAT, VAT, currency, service and vehicle type to Google Analytics. This allows the booking to be linked to earlier website activity where available, including when Stripe is not used. The account-booking event does not include customer contact details, collection or delivery addresses, shipment contents, card details or private tracking links.
With Analytics consent, we also measure successful instant quotation emails as a separate event with an opaque quotation reference, service type and currency, but no recipient address or revenue value.
This reporting uses the analytics consent choice and is separate from essential booking processing. You can refuse analytics and still book transport. Change or withdraw consent using the cookie controls on the website or portal; contact ACS if you need help with a pending booking report. Withdrawal does not automatically delete information already sent. Our Privacy Policy explains this reporting and your data rights.
Advertising
With your consent, ACS Same Day uses LinkedIn advertising measurement on acs-sameday.co.uk, www.acs-sameday.co.uk and online.acs-sameday.co.uk. The CookieYes Advertisement choice controls this separately from Analytics. You can request a quotation and book transport without accepting advertising cookies.
We measure eligible completed card bookings, confirmed account bookings and submitted HGV or ADR enquiries. An instant quotation email accepted by our email provider is a separate secondary outcome with no revenue value; acceptance does not guarantee inbox delivery. Page visits, quote calculations and unconfirmed booking requests are not completed bookings. Zoho forms are outside this LinkedIn conversion integration.
The rules that apply
The UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations govern storing or accessing information on your device. Consent is required unless a specific exception applies. UK data protection law separately governs any personal information processed. An exception from cookie consent does not automatically establish a lawful basis for every use of personal information.
4. Services we use
The tools you encounter depend on the page, your choices and the features you use. Provider links below explain their technologies; not every cookie described in a provider's documentation is necessarily used on our website.
- Zoho Sites and CookieYes preferences
- Zoho Sites provides our main website platform. CookieYes provides the ACS Same Day cookie banner and preference controls. Its
cookieyes-consentcookie remembers your category choices, including Analytics and Advertisement, across our main site and online quotation app. Use the controls on this page to revisit those choices. - Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
- Google Analytics measures website use and quote or booking events. Its cookie names can include
_gaand_ga_…. Google Tag Manager loads and manages configured tags; the purposes of those tags determine the relevant consent choice. Google Analytics cookie information. - LinkedIn Insight Tag and Conversions API
- After advertising consent, the Insight Tag on eligible public marketing pages can send the page URL, referrer, IP address, browser and device information, and visit time to LinkedIn for advertising measurement and related advertising purposes. Separately, eligible server-side conversion events contain a LinkedIn click identifier, event reference, type and time; completed bookings also contain value excluding VAT and currency. These server events do not contain your name, email, phone number, collection or delivery address, shipment details, documents, payment-card details or customer account identifier. See our LinkedIn advertising privacy and retention notice, LinkedIn Privacy Policy and LinkedIn Cookie Table.
- Microsoft Clarity
- Clarity helps us understand page interactions through heatmaps and session recordings. Its analytics cookies can include
_clckand_clsk, which recognise a browser and connect interactions within a session. These are not the same as anonymous data. Clarity cookie information. - Ahrefs Web Analytics
- Ahrefs provides aggregate website traffic reporting. Ahrefs describes this service as operating without cookies or persistent visitor identifiers. This does not mean no information is processed when the script runs. About Ahrefs Web Analytics.
- Zoho SalesIQ chat
- SalesIQ supports chat and can recognise returning visitors and record interaction history. Storage needed for a chat you request is distinct from optional visitor monitoring or lead profiling. Those additional purposes should not be treated as essential chat functionality. Information you send in a chat is also covered by our Privacy Policy. SalesIQ cookie information.
- Elfsight review widgets
- Elfsight displays customer reviews. Loading a widget sends technical information to the provider. Elfsight documents a cookie called
elfsight_viewed_recentlyfor counting widget views; whether it is used depends on the widget settings. Elfsight privacy and cookie information. - Quote forms, maps and payments
- Our quote and portal services can store progress and session information. Google Maps supports map and route features; Stripe supports online payments when you use checkout. These services can process technical information and use storage for their respective functions. See Google's cookie information and Stripe's cookie information. A separate provider's website may present its own cookie choices.
5. How long information stays
Session cookies normally expire at the end of a browser session. Persistent cookies have an expiry date and may be refreshed when used again. Local storage can remain until the application removes it or you clear your browser's site data.
Remembering your choices and advertising identifiers
CookieYes remembers the categories you accept or reject in cookieyes-consent. You can change them before the saved choice expires; clearing site data can remove the choice. An older acs_analytics_consent cookie may remain from our previous controls, but it does not authorise LinkedIn tracking.
With advertising consent, acs_li_click stores a LinkedIn click identifier across our main site and quotation app for up to 30 days. LinkedIn's li_fat_id first-party advertising identifier also has a lifetime of up to 30 days. ACS removes server-side matching identifiers and conversion payloads after 30 days from capture. Minimal event references and delivery statuses are retained for up to 90 days to prevent duplicate reporting and diagnose delivery. These periods do not change retention of operational booking, enquiry, payment or accounting records.
Other storage lifetimes depend on the provider, the feature and its settings. Provider documentation describes their cookie purposes and standard lifetimes; individual cookies may have different configured expiry dates. You can inspect stored cookies and their expiry dates using your browser's site-data tools.
A cookie's lifetime is different from the period for which enquiry, booking, chat or analytics records are retained. See our Privacy Policy for information about personal-data retention.
6. Change your cookie choices
Open Cookie preferences using either button on this page or the floating consent button. Switch optional categories on or off and select Save Preferences, or use Reject All or Accept All. Necessary cookies remain enabled. Analytics and Advertisement are separate choices.
You can withdraw consent by switching a category off and saving. For LinkedIn, our integrated quotation pages remove the ACS advertising cookie and notify the reporting service to stop unsent events when they run. After changing your choice, reopen an integrated quotation page so it receives the change. Withdrawal applies to future consent-based activity and cannot undo events already sent. Changing a preference may not remove every provider cookie; you can also clear cookies and site data in your browser.
Your choices relate to the browser and device you use. If you clear site data, use private browsing or switch devices, you may need to choose again. Clearing site data can also remove saved quote progress or sign you out.
Your browser can block or delete cookies. Google also offers an Analytics opt-out browser add-on; this is separate from our cookie controls and does not manage other providers.
7. Personal information and transfers
Service providers may process technical information, online identifiers and other personal information in the UK or other countries. The applicable data protection requirements depend on the provider and processing involved. Our Privacy Policy explains our handling of personal information and how to contact us about your rights, retention and international transfers.
8. Updates and questions
We may update this policy when our services, technology or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Changes to purposes that require consent will need the relevant choice before those activities take place.
For questions about cookies or difficulty changing your preferences, email traffic@acs-sameday.co.uk or call 01234 385970.
