From two postcodes to your courier booking
You can get a same day courier quote online without opening an account or providing an email address. Start with your collection and delivery postcodes, add the timings and compare prices for dedicated vans. Choose a vehicle, then enter the full details when you’re ready to book.
The ACS Same Day calculator is designed for business deliveries such as cartons, parts, equipment and palletised goods. Here’s how to get a price and book your delivery.
1. Start with the collection and delivery postcodes
Open our instant courier quote tool and enter where the goods are being collected and delivered. Use the postcode for the actual site at each end, rather than a company’s registered office or billing address.
You can arrange collection from your own premises, a supplier or another business. For example, if a supplier is sending equipment directly to your customer, use the supplier’s postcode as the collection point and your customer’s postcode as the destination.
You do not need every booking detail just to start comparing prices. Have the full addresses, details of the goods and site contacts ready for the booking.
2. Add your dates, times and any extra stops
Enter when you need collection and delivery. Allow enough time for the goods to be packed and ready to load, especially if the warehouse is still preparing the order.
You can add extra stops as you continue through the quote tool. Include the complete journey so the price reflects the work required. Include any collections from other suppliers or a return journey to your premises.
Check the dates as well as the times, particularly when arranging a delivery for another day. If someone has asked for “tomorrow morning”, ask whether they need a specific arrival time or delivery during the morning. Call us before booking if the delivery must arrive by a specific time.
3. Compare vans and choose one that suits the load
The calculator lets you compare prices for standard courier vans. Use the size and total weight of your goods to choose a suitable van, and consider how they’ll be loaded.
Our fleet guide shows vehicle sizes and carrying capacities. When comparing options, consider:
- Space: measure the packed items, including pallets and any overhang.
- Weight: include the goods, packaging and pallets in the total.
- Loading: consider how the goods will get into and out of the vehicle at both addresses.
A light but long item may need more load space than several compact cartons. A load can also fit inside a van but be too heavy for it to carry. If the fit is close, or you need a tail lift or a specific way of loading, speak to us before booking.
4. Enter the collection, delivery and goods details
Once you have chosen your vehicle, complete the booking information. Add the full addresses and describe what is being moved in straightforward terms.
For example, “three cartons of machine parts, each 50 × 40 × 30 cm and 15 kg” is more useful than “parts”. Include a collection reference if the supplier needs one to release the order, and a delivery reference if the receiver uses one to identify incoming goods.
Add site contacts and practical access instructions where available. A named entrance, loading bay or gatehouse instruction can save the driver time. Make sure the sender and receiver know about the delivery, especially when you are organising it on their behalf.
Complete all required fields before continuing. If the form highlights a missing detail, return to that field and finish it.
5. Review the total and complete the booking steps
Before submitting, check the route, dates, timings, vehicle and load details. Check the total, including VAT, before continuing.
Follow the payment steps to pay securely by card. If you have an approved ACS account, you can submit a request to book on account.
Once you’ve submitted your booking, look out for confirmation from ACS. A quote on its own doesn’t reserve a vehicle, and account booking requests need our approval.
When should you speak to ACS first?
Contact our team before booking if you need collection within 90 minutes, have a fixed delivery deadline or need urgent out-of-hours transport.
Online card bookings need at least 90 minutes’ notice. For an earlier collection, call us to find out what’s available.
For HGV, ADR, airport freight or temperature-controlled goods, contact us for a quote. These jobs need a few more details than a standard van booking.
